Do Poms or Chis blow their coats in spring?

I have a 1 yr old Pom/Chi whom I thought would end up looking more chi, but now her long hair all around her neck is falling out and there's a wooly soft baby coat underneath, much like when my ferrets blew their coats. This seems to be a pom thing. She does have a double coat, but she could easily p for a particularly lush coated long haired chi. She never shed at all till she started blowing her coat. I absolutely couldn't care less what she ends up looking like-she'll always be the most gorgeous girl in the world to me-but I was just curious-does it sound like she'll end up pom-like after all?
