What is wrong with my newborn son?

My newborn son is a week a 4 days old. I am very worried because he was sleeping good when he was a really new born of course, but now all of a sudden he wont sleep at all. I heard they dont sleep well and that we will be up all night, but i also heard they sleep 16 hours a day? Well anyways, to get to the point, he is eating very very good. But eveytime we put him down when he falls asleep he cries after like 15-20 mins. He sleeps for 20 mins to maybe not even close to an hour and then waks up crying like he's really in pain. I comfort him and sometimes he stops. I called his doctor, and they havent called me back yet. I am just a new mother and very nervous. My husband works full time and bless his heart he stays up with me cause of my staples in my stomach that i am getting removed tomorrow cause i had to have a c-section. I am just very worried about him. And also it seems like all he wants to do is suck. His pacifier and bottle makes him quiet...HELP?!?!!
