Should I get a Tongue Ring?

Ok, I'm 14 and I really want a tongue piercing. I know the label that people will probably put on me, but I could seriously care less. None of my friends have one, so I'm not trying to be like them. The exact opposite. My mom has already said I could if I got a piercing in my ear cartliage first, which I don't want. I have done a ton of research already and am just trying to decide. If you're going to reply, give a reason for your choice not just 'ewww! no!'
